A free tool for the advanced treatment of images.

PixArea is an application for processing images, that contains a specific interface for advanced workings on photos. The regions of interest (ROI) can be calculated without needing to use microscopic image acquisition techniques. The region is marked with a little black colour in histograms, and the scanned image that results from this is shown directly in the PixArea interface.

The idea is to saturate the ROI with the colour violet, and the normal with the colour cyan. The remaining background is coloured in white. PixArea computes the pixels each time you click on the mouse in the corresponding area of the image. When you click on Calculate, a button at the bottom, the numeric value of the coloured area is shown on-screen in percentage. If you click on the top, it will calculate it in square milimetres. All this information can be generated and printed in a report.

NOTE: PixArea needs scanned images in 24-bit maps to work correctly. This is because the program evaluates the pixels and their RGB values each time you click on the image.
